How much does diving on Gili Air cost?

ByBibi· Owner-founder & SSI Instructor Trainer

A transparent breakdown of what diving on Gili Air actually costs in 2026 — fun dives, try dives, the Open Water course and the extras like the marine-park fee — plus how to pay less.

Diving on Gili Air is mid-range for Indonesia — cheaper than Bali’s day-trip operators, a little more than the busiest party islands, and honestly priced for small groups. As a guide, a single fun dive starts at 650,000 IDR, a full SSI Open Water course is 6,900,000 IDR, and a no-certification try dive is 1,350,000 IDR. Here is the full breakdown — and prices on our prices page are always the live source of truth.

Fun dives (already certified)

A single guided fun dive is 650,000 IDR, and the per-dive price drops fast with packs: 3 dives 1,755,000 IDR, 5 dives 2,890,000 IDR (includes a night dive), up to 10 dives 5,780,000 IDR. All include tank, weights, guide and boat — max 4 divers per guide. Full gear rental is available if you’re not travelling with your own.

Try a dive (no certification)

Never dived and want to test the water? The SSI Basic Diver / try dive is 1,350,000 IDR for a half day — a pool session plus one open-water dive to about 12 m, turtles included. If you then decide to certify, the cost is credited toward an Open Water within 12 months.

Learning to dive (courses)

  • SSI Open Water (3 days, your worldwide licence): 6,900,000 IDR
  • SSI Advanced Open Water (2 days): 5,900,000 IDR
  • Stress & Rescue (3 days): 6,900,000 IDR

Courses include instruction, all equipment, certification and SSI digital materials. Book online for 10% off scuba courses.

The extras to budget for

  • Marine-park fee: 100,000 IDR — a one-off conservation fee (paid to Gili Matra, not us) valid for 30 days of unlimited diving.
  • Nitrox: +100,000 IDR per dive, if you’re certified for it.
  • Gear: included in course prices; rentable for fun dives.

How to pay less

Dive in a pack rather than one at a time, book courses online for the 10% discount, and dive more days — the per-dive rate keeps dropping. Prices are the same small-group experience either way: a hard cap of 4 divers per guide.
