What changes between Level 1 and Level 2?

Going deeper means advancing your skills. You'll master the Advanced Frenzel technique to break past 20 metres comfortably, building the throat control needed for deeper equalisation. You'll also learn to freefall — the art of stopping all movement and letting gravity glide you down while actively strengthening your mammalian dive reflex.

How long after Level 1 can I do Level 2?

As soon as you're comfortable at 15-20 metres — typically 2-4 weeks after Level 1, but anything from a week to a year works. We do a short refresher on Day 1 to check your Level 1 skills are still sharp.

I did AIDA 2 / PADI Freediver. Do I have to redo Level 1?

No. Any equivalent freediving certification (AIDA 2, PADI Freediver, Molchanovs Wave 1) admits you straight into SSI Level 2. We'll do a confidence dive with you first to align on standards.

Is Advanced Frenzel and Freefall difficult to master?

Not at all. We teach them step-by-step over 3 days, pairing a relaxed throat for equalisation with a completely still body for the freefall. By Day 3, most students find that gliding past 24 metres feels surprisingly effortless and peaceful.

Do you do depth dives in open ocean or in a controlled lake?

Open ocean, on a moored line in calm water around Gili Air or Gili Meno. Visibility is typically 20+ metres so you see the bottom of the line throughout. No murky lakes, no boat traffic.
