Meno Wall is a vertical drop-off running along the western side of Gili Meno, beginning at around 5 m and descending to a sandy bottom at 30 m. The wall face is dense with marine life in a way that rewards methodical exploration: lionfish and scorpionfish occupy every overhang and ledge, moray eels thread through crevices, lobsters and crabs shelter in deep recesses, and clownfish tend their anemone patches in the upper wall. Groupers patrol the mid-wall range, and schooling fish including bumphead parrotfish and fusiliers pass in open water in front of the wall.

Green sea turtles use Meno Wall as a cleaning station and feeding ground, and encounters with two or three turtles on a single dive are common. The wall face also holds excellent macro life: nudibranchs of numerous species browse the encrusting sponge, porcelain crabs occupy their anemone hosts, and the frequent presence of crustaceans along the overhang lips makes this one of the most productive crustacean sites in the Gili area. At night, the wall’s character changes dramatically — octopus emerge to hunt along the face, sleeping fish become accessible for close observation, and the density of crustacean activity intensifies considerably.

Current is variable — the wall can be calm or have a moderate along-wall drift depending on tidal phase. Visibility runs 12–25 m. Suitable for all certified divers; the site is a particular favourite for night diving.

Diver tips: Meno Wall is one of the best night dive sites in the Gili Islands — book it as a night dive for the full crustacean experience. During the day, keep one eye on the blue water beyond the wall for bumphead parrotfish and the occasional passing reef shark. The upper section at 5–10 m is rich in coral and turtle activity and makes an excellent extended safety stop. A torch even for day dives helps illuminate the deep overhangs where lobsters and crabs shelter.
