Jack Point is located on the northern side of Gili Meno and is regarded by many local dive guides as the single best site in the Gili Islands for dramatic pelagic encounters. The site features two coral ridges stretching westward from the island, separated by a corridor of white sand where the current is channelled and concentrated. Fish gather in enormous schools in the sweet spot between the ridges, creating a spectacle that divers travel to the Gili Islands specifically to experience.

The site’s reputation is built on its trevally aggregations: schools of hundreds of big-eye trevally form dense spinning tornadoes in the channel between the ridges, while giant trevally — some exceeding a metre in length — patrol the perimeter hunting smaller fish. Whitetip and blacktip reef sharks circle the structure in the deeper water below 24 m. Schools of lined, black, and humpback snappers cover the sandy bottom between the ridges, sheltering close to the coral when the sharks pass. Spotted eagle rays glide past in the blue on the outgoing current, and manta rays occasionally cross the site during the November–April season when they are present in the Gili area.

The depth range of 8–35 m plus the potentially strong current (driven by the Lombok Strait tidal flow) makes this an Advanced-level site. The best encounters are at the deeper end of the ridge system at 24–35 m, where the big animals concentrate. Current can be mild or extremely strong and must be assessed by your guide before descending.

Diver tips: This site rewards patience — find a comfortable position on the ridge crest and let the trevally show come to you rather than chasing the fish. The 30–35 m section is open for PADI/SSI Deep specialty training. Best conditions are typically at the beginning of the outgoing tide when the current draws baitfish into the channel. Nitrox significantly improves the quality of the deeper sections of this dive.
